Visit the Custom Sets page and open the Layout Builder tool.

This tool allows you to design your entire keycap set directly in the browser.

Step 2. Select Your Keyboard Layout

Choose the keyboard layout that best matches your keyboard.

Our layout builder supports a variety of split keyboards, including Corne, Lily58, Moonlander, Voyager, and other ergonomic and split keyboard layouts

Selecting the correct layout ensures the keycap sizes and spacing match your keyboard.

Step 3. Select your preferred keycap profile

Next, choose the switch compatibility and then within that column select the keycap profile that you desire.

Available options include:

Standard MX – Compatible with traditional MX switches
MX Low Profile – Designed for low-profile MX switches
Choc V1 – Compatible with Kailh Choc switches

Choosing the correct profile ensures your keycaps will fit your keyboard properly.

Step 4. Mix colors

You can mix different colors within the same keycap set.

To customize a keycap color:
  1. Click on a specific keycap in the layout.
  2. Use the color options on the right side of the tool.
  3. Select the color you want for that key.

This makes it easy to create accent keys, themed layouts, or fully custom color combinations.

Step 5. Enable Legends

If you want legends (labels) on your keycaps:

  1. Enable Legends on the left side of the tool.
  2. Legends will appear on the keycaps in the layout.

This allows you to have our standard legends for layers, shortcuts, or functions.

Step 6. Enable fully custom legends

You can also enable Custom Legends, which allows more advanced customization.

With custom legends, you can add icons, symbols, shortcut indicators, custom text, and unique key labels.

This is perfect for creating keycaps that match your personal workflow.

Step 7. Customize Individual Key Legends

To edit a legend:

  1. Click on the keycap you want to modify.
  2. Use the legend editor on the right side of the tool.
  3. Enter the text, symbol, or icon you want.
  4. You can also add multiple legends.

You can customize every key individually.

Step 8. Choose Your Legend Style

Once Custom Legends are enabled, you can customize the legend style.

You can adjust how your legends appear, including layout, positioning, and overall style.

This helps you create a clean, consistent, and readable design across your keycaps.

Step 9. Use Multi-selection

You can select multiple keycaps at once to speed up your design process. This option can be found in the left sidebar.

To use multi-selection:

Hold CTRL (or Command on Mac) and click multiple keycaps.

This allows you to apply the same color or legends to multiple keys in one action, which is especially useful for larger layouts or repeating keys.

Step 10. Control Legend Styles (Groups 1–4)

The left menu allows you to control legend groups (1–4).

Each keycap can have up to 4 legends, which are organized as Legend Groups 1–4.

These groups allow you to manage multiple legends on a single keycap and style them consistently across your layout.

How each group is used depends entirely on your design and workflow.

Step 11. Use Night Mode

You can enable Night Mode for a darker workspace while designing.

Night Mode helps reduce eye strain during long sessions and can make it easier to see lighter legends and colors with better contrast.

Step 12. Use Image Links

You can also use image links for your legends.

Simply paste an image URL into the legend box to display custom icons or graphics on your keycaps.

You can browse icons from sources like:
https://icons8.com/icons

When using icons, make sure to copy the direct PNG image link and paste it into the legend box.

This is useful for adding unique symbols, logos, or custom designs.

Step 13. Upload Custom Images

For more advanced customization, you can upload your own images. This option can be found in the right sidebar near the style settings.

This allows you to use fully custom graphics and create a more personalized keycap set.

Step 14. Submit your design

Once you are satisfied with your design:

  • Open Manage Files.
  • Submit your design to the community.

Our team will review the design and assist with preparing it for production.

Step 15. Place Your Order

After confirming everything looks correct:

  • Use the Order option at the bottom left of the tool to place your order.
  • Before proceeding to checkout, review your layout, colors, and legends to ensure all details are correct. You may also include notes or special instructions if needed.
  • During checkout, you will be asked to confirm your order details, shipping information, and any additional requirements for your custom keycap set.

Once your order is placed, our team will review your design and prepare it for production.
