FAQs & Reviews
General Queries
- How do nylon and resin textures differ?
Our nylon material has a rough surface finish, similar to smooth concrete, providing a textured feel. In contrast, resin offers a smoother finish closer to standard PBT keycaps. - How does each material affect backlighting?
Nylon is quite opaque and does not allow light to pass through, while resin is somewhat translucent. The amount of light that shines through depends on the color and thickness of the keycap. - What color options are available for keycaps?
We can add pigments to our resin before printing, offering a vibrant selection of colors. Currently, our nylon keycaps are available only in gray, black, white, and transparent (frosted). For resin keycaps, we offer a wider range, including yellow, orange, red, pink, purple, blue, and green.
- Resin
Yes, we produce our resin keycaps using DLP resin printers. By printing our keycaps we get to have control over the whole manufacturing process, enabling us to achieve higher quality keycaps.
We print the keycaps once the order is placed. - Nylon
For nylon keycaps, we work closely with our trusted supplier, JLCPCB. Upon receiving nylon inventory, an our own additional quality control (yes, there are a lot of keycaps that got scrapped and this still happens from time to time).
Yes, we hold an inventory of nylon keycaps. Upon receiving a restock, we perform quality control to address variations in tolerance that could lead to loose or tight stems. Keycaps that do not meet our quality standards are set aside to ensure only functional products are shipped to customers. For resin keycaps, we typically maintain minimal to no inventory, aside from accessories.
Yes, our resin keycaps are safe to handle. We use bio-compatible, non-toxic resins, and after a thorough cleaning process (three stages of 99% IPA, followed by baking and UV curing), the resin is fully set and safe to touch.
We are also transitioning to ISO 10993-10 certified biocompatible resins for even safer options. Currently, our black and grey resins meet this standard, and we're working to apply it to our white and transparent resins.
We provide detailed size specifications for each keycap profile. If you're unsure, please reach out to us with your keyboard model, and we'll help you find the perfect fit.
Yes, we offer custom keycap services. Please contact us for more information on custom designs or modifications.
Processing times vary depending on order volume and the material chosen. Resin keycaps are typically made to order, which may take longer than nylon keycaps. We provide an estimated shipping date when you place your order.
If you receive a damaged keycap, please contact us immediately. We offer replacements or refunds for damaged items within a specified time frame.
Yes, our keycaps are designed to fit standard switches, but please check the stem size and shape for compatibility with your specific switches.
We currently do not share all our 3d files as we are using them to try and make a living. This is something that we hope to make available in the future, once things are going smoother (financially). We hope that you understand.
Some keycap profiles are open source, in which case our modified versions of these initial profiles are available here: 3dkeycap google drive
Currently, we do not offer keyboard cases, but we plan to introduce them in the coming months.
Please contact us, and we will do our best to assist you. We are continually working to expand our product selection.
Customization
Yes, we create fully custom keycaps with pricing based on design complexity. After making 3D files and sending the renders, we can iterate until you’re satisfied, and we can adjust the final product after printing if needed.
The timeline varies based on design complexity and iterations, but we’ll provide an estimated timeframe once we finalize the design.
Yes, we welcome feedback and can make changes even after printing the first set.
Yes, we can create custom colors for CAD $75. This requires mixing resin and pigments, which involves additional materials and time. While we try to limit custom requests, we’re happy to accommodate those interested.
Yes, we can add legends to full keycap sets using our UV printer. We can create a custom listing, and we typically need about two weeks to fulfill the order. The total cost will be the price of the blank set plus CAD $50 for our template legends or CAD $75 for fully custom legends.
We know that legends are essential for typing ease. Although we offer UV printing for resin keycaps, we're not yet able to provide this for nylon keycaps. We’re actively working on it, but it may take several months before we can introduce printed legends on nylon keycaps.
Production & Quality Standards
Our resin printing process has been fine-tuned to achieve a perfect fit and high-quality finish for each keycap:
- We begin with a 3D model that includes custom stem dimensions to ensure a better fit.
- The file is then prepped and optimized for 3D printing.
- We proceed with resin printing each keycap.
- The keycap goes through a thorough cleaning in 99% isopropyl alcohol, using a three-stage bath process with specific stirring times at each stage.
- After cleaning, the parts are baked to strengthen them.
- They are then UV-cured for durability.
- Finally, we package and ship the keycaps with care.
This updated process delivers keycaps that are durable, precise, and high-quality.
We use Anycubic UV Tough Resins and Siraya Tech Bio-Compatible Resins. These resins are durable and designed for long-lasting use.
While we’re still observing long-term wear, initial use shows no significant wear or fading.
Yes. Resin keycaps can be easily cleaned with a mild solution or wipe, without damaging the keycaps.
Payment & Shipping
We ship keycaps through Canada Post, usually using regular parcel pricing, as this best suits most orders.
Yes! For Canadian customers ordering a small number of keycaps or adapters, we may be able to use letter mail if the package is lightweight, fits within a 2cm slot, and is being sent within Canada. When possible, we’ll switch to letter mail and refund you the shipping difference.
Yes, we offer international shipping using Canada Post’s rates. However, please note that shipping rates can be a bit higher for international orders, and we appreciate your understanding.
